We have two cross purpose phenomena in the Jussie Smollett case. First the desire to be early and loudest about an obviously just outrage over a potentially vile and brutal attack on a minority. And second, when holes in that case develop, even if you’re the media or legit journalists, mitigate any chances you’re seen as second guessing the attack story.
